About this policy

The Laundry Guys (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is committed to protecting the privacy of our customers and visitors. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your personal information when you visit our laundromat in Kamloops, British Columbia, or interact with us online or by phone.

We comply with British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and, where applicable, Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). By using our services, you consent to the practices described in this policy.

2.

Information we collect

We only collect personal information that is necessary to provide our services. This may include:

  • Contact information — name, email address, or phone number, collected when you sign up for a loyalty program, newsletter, or contact us with a question or complaint.
  • Payment information — card transaction records processed through our payment terminals. We do not store full card numbers; transactions are handled by PCI-compliant third-party processors.
  • Loyalty program data — if you participate in a rewards program, we may track visit history and points balance linked to your account.
  • Feedback and correspondence — records of any communications you send us, including emails, comment cards, or social media messages.
  • Video surveillance footage — recorded on-premises via CCTV (see Section 4).

We do not collect sensitive personal information such as health data, government ID numbers, or financial account credentials.

3.

How we use your information

We use the personal information we collect for the following purposes:

  • To provide, operate, and improve our laundromat services.
  • To administer loyalty programs and process rewards.
  • To respond to your inquiries, complaints, or feedback.
  • To send occasional service updates or promotions (only where you have opted in).
  • To detect, investigate, and prevent theft, vandalism, or safety incidents.
  • To comply with legal obligations under applicable Canadian and BC law.

We will not use your personal information for any purpose other than those identified above without first seeking your consent.

4.

Security cameras (CCTV)

Security cameras are in operation at our Kamloops location for the safety and security of our customers, staff, and property. Signage is posted at the entrance and within the facility to notify visitors of recording.

Footage is retained for a maximum of 30 days and then automatically overwritten, unless it is needed in connection with an incident, insurance claim, or law enforcement request. Access to footage is restricted to authorized personnel and is not shared except as required by law or with the consent of the individuals involved.

5.

How we share your information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We may share information only in the following limited circumstances:

  • Service providers — trusted third parties who assist us in operating our business (e.g., payment processors, loyalty program platforms), bound by confidentiality obligations.
  • Legal requirements — when required to comply with a court order, subpoena, law enforcement request, or other legal obligation.
  • Business transfers — in the event of a sale or transfer of the business, personal information may be transferred to the new owner subject to the same privacy protections.
  • With your consent — for any other purpose, only with your explicit prior consent.
6.

How long we keep your data

We retain personal information only as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected, or as required by law. In general:

  • Loyalty and account data is retained while your account is active, and for up to 2 years after your last interaction.
  • Payment transaction records are retained as required for accounting and tax purposes (typically 7 years under CRA guidelines).
  • CCTV footage is retained for up to 30 days (see Section 4).
  • Correspondence is retained for up to 2 years or until the matter is resolved.

When personal information is no longer required, it is securely deleted or anonymized.

7.
